About Us
Learn more about our mission, vision, and the impact we're making in the lives of refugee girls.
Girl Power Action Initiative was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to restore dignity and happiness to refugee girls in Kalobeyei and Kakuma camps. Our founders witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by these young women, particularly concerning menstrual hygiene and reproductive health.
What began as a small initiative to provide reusable sanitary pads quickly evolved into a comprehensive program addressing sexual and reproductive health education, menstruation hygiene management, and providing mentorship opportunities.
Today, we continue to grow our impact, reaching more girls each year and expanding our programs to address their holistic needs. We believe that every girl deserves access to education, health resources, and the opportunity to reach her full potential.
"Every girl has the right to education, health, and dignity."
Girl Power Action Initiative is committed to promoting Sexual Reproductive Health Education (SRHE) and preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). Through educational training, mentorship, and livelihood programs, we empower women and girls to lead healthier, safer, and more empowered lives.
A future where every woman and girl in Africa lives and thrives with dignity, safety, and self-reliance.
In partnership with UNHCR, Cohere, and Amahoro Coalition, we have achieved: 4,218 girls trained on SRHR and GBV; 4,600 pads distributed to adolescent girls and reproductive women; 50+ women trained on tailoring and reusable pad production.
